Stephen Colbert will take over the Late Show on September 8th, replacing
David Letterman after more than two decades as host. Letterman's final show
will be May 20th.

The article doesn't indicate what will air between May 20th and Sept 8th.
Presumably Letterman re-runs.

It's been reported that CBS will be using reruns of prime time shows.
Expect a lot of CSIs.

Seems like an uninformed plan, same with The Late Late Show.
To me, it would be smart to keep the shows going and jump right in with the new hosts.

(The Tonight Show went through crazy changes but it never went on hiatus!)
