Pfeiffer scores rare one-on-one talk with reclusive Letterman
It looks like local KRTV meteorologist Fred Pfeiffer appears to have
some show biz connections.
On March 30, Pfeiffer's interview with late night talk show host and
part-time Montana resident David Letterman will air.
"I was on his show seven years ago on his 'Top Ten' list," Pfeiffer
said.
After appearing on the show under the "Top Ten List of Things You Hope
You Never Hear from your Weatherman," Pfeiffer said he wrote to
Letterman and asked if he could do an interview with the comedian.
In the meantime, Pfeiffer said Letterman continued to spend time at
his Choteau ranch and often caught the KRTV broadcast. Pfeiffer
continued to seek an interview.
"He's hard to get an interview with," he said.
But finally, after seven years, Pfeiffer and his wife flew to New York
and had a 30-minute sit-down interview with Letterman last week.
Pfeiffer said they talked about Letterman's career, his love for
Montana and the Rocky Mountain Front and the time a bear broke into
his cabin, among other things.
"He was a very, very nice man. He was very likable," Pfeiffer said.
"He reads the Great Falls Tribune, by the way. And he told me I am his
Montana weatherman."
The interview will air at 9 a.m., Sunday March 30, on KRTV. The
program is called "Face the State."
